The Luxury of Good Decisions, Made for You

It's officially summer-break, even if it's not technically the summer season just yet. My house is wrecked, no one is eating full meals, and everyone is pretty happy!

As soon as school got out, we packed our bags and drove to Hot Springs, VA to stay for a week away at one of our favorite places, The Homestead. Could we have gone to Europe for the same cost? Sure, but what I love about this kind of trip is that it's a true vacation. Surrounded by the prettiest parts of Mother nature, laid up in well-appointed interiors, and stumbling upon not-to-strenuous activities at every turn, I relished not having to plan a single thing. As a business owner and mom of three, the decision fatigue is real! They even have a social hour every day at 3 PM, so I could count on a daily treat and lemonade to enjoy from one of the rocking chairs or benches on the famous front porch.

The weather was perfect, the kids are all at the perfect ages to roam about on their own, and even our rooms got up upgraded to a presidential suite because of a convention happening at the same time. I joked that we cannot go back after this trip. It just won't get better than we had it.

#Firefly Finale

Upon our return, we jumped right into kids going to camps and work firing back up. #FireflyLWD is one of the remaining All In projects for this year. We had a fantastic install for it this past week. I say "we" not just to include the movers and me and my client, but my youngest, Harvey, was there with me. We celebrated afterwards with tacos ;) All that remains is the window treatments installation in July and photography this early Autumn.

Bidding Farewell to South Carolina

One major pivot has been deciding to sell my Murrells Inlet, SC home. Despite what I wrote about my big plans for it when I moved down there, some other developments made us realize that isn't the right house and it isn't the right time to make these moves and plans. It is bittersweet, because I know I need to simplify things right now, but darn, if we didn't love that house and our dreams for it!!! So much thought and planning went into the renovations and I got so much fulfillment finding and procuring all of the decor and furnishings (they are also being sold). In short, a big dream for our future lives there is no more. If you know of anyone moving to the Myrtle Beach areas (the Hammock Coast), please send them our listing. It would bring me a lot of happiness to know someone else could enjoy it!

Take Aways

As I start off the summer, fresh from the ultimate luxury of not having to make any real decisions at the Homestead, it hit me: when life is chaotic, you don't want a million more questions. You want expert guidance that just delivers, so you can actually enjoy your life.

Isn't this why everyone is obsessed with AI right now?! We're all looking for someone or something to organize the chaos for us. But there's a catch-- AI doesn't know you and it doesn't know your routine. Sure, it can give you steps for repeatable processes, but it hasn't worked with nearby electricians, nor does it know about the most-detail oriented workroom in your area who will ensure your window seat bench cushion fits to your unique window frame. It can give you basic, made-for-everyone information, but it can't give you the hyper-local, personalized nuance your home needs.

And this need to calm, to feel confidence in moving forward efficiently? That is exactly why I've shifted my business model to consulting. I want to be that ultimate guide and decision-marker for you. I step in, look at your space, and give you the definitive answers you need without the full-service commitment.

Wishing y'all a happy, embracing-the-chaotic start to your summer!
